Blog Post #17- Preliminary Exercise
To get myself ready for my film, I practiced with three videos and two pictures.
In my film I plan to start in the car. In this shot, I practiced the different angles I might use in order to capture my protagonist getting into the car. The problem I ran into with this shot was the reflection in the mirror of me recording. So in this next picture, I approached from a different angle.
With this angle, I attempted an over the shoulder shot. This way I was not in the reflection and I could still capture my protagonist in the car. However, in this shot you are able to see the reflection of my protagonist hands. When I begin filming, I plan to have the door closed especially since my two characters are meant to be driving anyways.

For this clip, I wanted to practice a close up. I made my actor (Sean) pretend like he just got into a car accident since that is what will happen to my actors. I think it will be easier to capture drama and suspense by using a close up for this scene. I also enjoy a close up for this shot because I can capture my protagonist but in the background I will also be able to capture my other character.
These next three videos go hand in hand with one another:
For these clips, I wanted to create an establishing shot but then move to a mid-shot. For the first clip I am farther back capturing the car and my protagonist getting in (keep in mind for my final film there will be two people one on both side but I only had one actor available at the moment).

For this next shot, I move closer up. This way I can capture my protagonist getting in the car but also how unaware they will be.

This was the final shot of the two of them put together. This is something I plan to create in my final film because I like the way it cuts together.
