Blog Post #19- Current Social Media Advertisements

A piece of our grade is creating a social media account to advertise the short film. While I am aware of how to use social media for personal use, I do not have any idea how to organize an advertising social media. I took a deeper look at three accounts: "This Is Us", "The Summer I Turned Pretty" and "Outer Banks".

The first show is "The Summer I Turned Pretty". 

This TV series falls under the genres coming of age, drama and romance which is similar to mine. The first thing I realize about the account is the profile picture. The profile picture is the name of the TV show. The instagram bio links the show and where you can watch it so it is easier for the viewers to find. The highlights under the account do not show clips from the film. It instead focuses on what is in the area of filming, costuming and music.  The content posted is where you find the teasers and different events the cast attended. 

The next account I analyzed was "Outer Banks". This series falls under the genres mystery, thriller, action and teen drama. This instagram account follows the plot of the show. There is nothing on the account that has no correlation to the show. The account has three different posts pinned and they are different behind the scenes pictures as a way to grab audience members attention. The instagram publishes different events like premieres and the tour they are taking. 

The last film "This Is Us" is the TV show that has given me the biggest inspiration for my film. The genres are tragedy, family, comedy and romantic drama. The bio for this one quotes the big message from the film that only viewers will understand. This will grab the attention of outside viewers because they will be curious on what the sentence means. The highlights focus on the actors more personal life. This gives the viewers an opportunity to separate the characters from the actors. Allowing viewers to gain a more emotional connection. 

Between the three, a common pattern is they have the name of their account, a bunch of different highlights, profile pictures and their bios. All three instagram accounts are successful with large followings meaning they are clearly doing something right. These are tips I plan to carry over into my account.
