Blog Post #21- "The Final Five"
With filming starting sometime within the next couple weeks, I wanted to decide a name for my film. I knew I wanted to include something with five especially because the plot of my film revolves around the final five minutes of someone’s life. Every time I thought of a new title it went into my notes and these are the six I limited it down too.
When it came to narrowing it down I was left with "The final five" and "You only get five".You only get five left readers on a cliff hanger. When you read it, you are left thinking you only get five of what? And you begin to get so curious on what the film means you end up watching it. Short film titles are not meant to be long so I knew that I wanted it to be short but still suspenseful. If the title is boring, chances are no one will watch it. You only get five checked off all the boxes. It was short, attention grabbing and broad.
When I thought of the final five it just made sense but I wanted to keep the thoughts open. The two titles were both similar in the sense of being broad. Technically both of the titles could have meant anything. Also, if you limited the title down to exactly what the film will be about it makes it predictable.
When it came to making the decision on the title for my short film the choice felt pretty obvious. With a broad title like "The Final Five" the viewers just have to watch the film to know what I mean!
