Blog Post #30- Final car accident preview
To capture the car accident I used three different shots. A circular dolly shot and two close ups.
The intention of the circular dolly shot was to get the whole scene in one. The circular dolly shot did a good job of capturing the two characters severely affected from the accident while also paying attention to the blinking hazards. The blinking hazards were set to create an uneasy feeling. You typically put on your car hazards when you pull over and need help. This was to help build suspense. The shot was also moving in a slower motion with the efforts of building emotion.
The close up shots is when the audience members begin to feel something for the two characters. The first of the close up shots shows Abby passed out against the dash. The open eyes are meant to symbolize that she is dead. She is not blinking or breathing. This was meant to create an uneasy feeling in the audience. We then cut to my protagonist hanging out the window. The reason for this was to create a negative environment. The fact the accident was so bad it sent our protagonist halfway out the window creates panic within our audience. The close up shots are more personal. They create more of an intimidating feeling compared to the circular dolly.
