Blog Post #59- Interviews

Since "The Final Five" is officially finished, I am interviewing different audience types to see how my film was overall perceived. I will be taking a range of ages/genders. For the teenagers I plan to take four High School seniors aged 17-18. Two boys and two girls. For the adults, I will be taking one female and one male in their mid-fourties. I will be asking all interviewees the same questions.

The questions:

  • Do you think the name of my film correlates with the plot?
  • Where would you distribute this film?
  • Have you interacted with the social media account?
  • Was the social media account helpful with updates?
  • How did you interpret my film?
Each question provides me with a helpful set of feedback allowing me to reflect on my film. This way I will be able to take away different information when it comes to how useful the social media account was and how my film was interpreted with different age groups and genders. All my teenage interviews will take place in the same recording spot and my adult interviews will be recorded in the same spot.

My reflection:

After analyzing the interviews, I have came across multiple different conclusions.

  1. Advertising on social media is only useful for teenagers. Most adults do not use social media as their form of communication. For example, the male adult figure I interviewed had no idea there was an instagram account because he does not have social media. In the future, I would need to adjust and publicize my film on different platforms (Facebook) and come up with a way to reach an older audience.
  2. The plot of my film tends to interest teenagers. Mainly females. If I was intending to grab the attentions of an older generation I would need to create a more generic plot. For example, include more action. Another thing I realized is male teenagers also were not the biggest fans. In the future, to adjust to this I could incorporate more males throughout my film.
  3. The plot and title of my film goes hand in hand. It was relevant, short and straight to the point.
  4. This is a smaller film, meaning it would be published through smaller sights. Similar to Youtube.
Overall, by doing the interviews I was given different types of feedback and genuine opinions on my film. I am able to take this in as ways to better myself as a director and take notes for my future projects.
